blog that was suppose to go out 11 days ago!

I wish you a happy and joyous 2018!
So, this is a bit late, but my well wishes are just as powerful today as they were on the first day of the year.
Some of you already know this about me–similar to many, I have a history of not following through with new year’s resolutions. It’s not that I have difficulty setting or meeting goals, it’s just that the ones I typically set for the new year just don’t happen. It started in college when the only two weeks I would exercise during the year were the first two weeks of January. I recall overhearing my friends who played college sports say how frustrating it was at the gym right after we returned from winter break and that the treadmills would be available again within a couple weeks. They were right.
But since it’s no longer the first of the year, let’s go ahead and set some intentions.
Are you in?
As a mantra or intention for this month, try this:
I keenly observe my automatic patterns, thoughts and reactions and vow to do things differently.
Routine and rhythm can be wonderful. Children thrive on knowing what to expect and often times, adults prefer this too. However, when we are in a pattern of negative thoughts or in a state of reacting to, rather than creating our life, we can get stuck.
Thoughts lead to emotions. And when we have similar thoughts day after day, they activate the similar emotions day after day. Ninety percent of our thoughts today are the same as our thoughts from yesterday.
It’s super difficult to set and meet goals when we don’t change our thoughts.
So for 2018, do things differently! Release the thoughts that are not serving you and set your intentions and goals today. Why not? It’s 1-11, just as good as any day (except 1-1, at least for me).
Try these three tips to increase the chance that you’ll meet your goals:
  1. Be realistic while also pushing yourself. If you have been binge watching Game of Thrones instead of exercising, try a one for one system. For every hour of working out, you allow yourself to watch one show.
  2. Find an accountability partner. In a recent class, one woman shared that her goal was to meditate 7 days in a row. Her accountability partner was going for 40 days in a row. The mere act of sharing this with each other, motivated the first woman to up her game. She meditated over 30 days in a row and is still at it!
  3. Use my favorite hack – how are you going to feel when you’ve met the goal? Awesome. Limitless. Grateful. Feel that NOW. We are constantly influencing our reality and repeatedly drawing the same situations into our lives- because of having similar thoughts and similar emotions. If you are already focusing on how you will feel when you have more energy, strength and vibrancy, you will magnetize those very things to you.
  4. Make sure you’re having fun! Did you notice that this list has 4 tips instead of 3? Well I’m having fun with this blog and decided to add a fourth. Having fun is so important. I’ve asked my kids to teach me how to play again. It’s been a blast. We are laughing (and dancing and playing) more than ever before.
Biggest Love and Blessings to you this year as you make your 1-11 intentions,
Kristen
